Welcome to The Holdaway Piano Studio!

I am very excited to have the opportunity to instruct your student and further their musical education.  I look forward to getting to know them and be able to assist them in any way they need.

To tell you a little about myself, I have studied music for most of my life.  I participated in contests, pageants and other shows receiving numerous scholarships and awards.  In middle and high school, I practiced 4-5 hours per day and dedicated myself to the education of the Composers.  (Beethoven, Bach, etc.)  In 2003, I graduated from BYU-Idaho with my degree in music, emphasizing on performance, theory, technic and pedagogy.  While there, I also studied the many other aspects of piano (including, but not limited to) teaching, ear training, and sight reading, hymnal instruction.  I love this marvelous instrument and hope to pass that along to others that I can instruct.  Needless to say, since piano has been my life, I have had to re-teach myself how to cook! (My poor husband!) I truly love to teach and love to play the piano.  I have been trained to teach piano and have taught for eighteen years. I have taught students ranging from the ages of five years old and up; as well as from all walks of life.

Learning music should be fun! I use various techniques to make the lessons enjoyable, while maintaining the professional standard of piano instruction.  If lessons are stressful, practicing will be!  If practicing is stressful, students will be discouraged.  Progress is hindered and everyone is frustrated.  I find that I have more success with my students in positive reinforcement; therefore having a more rewarding and successful experience!

I sincerely thank you for your interest in my studio. I am looking forward to many fun lessons and I urge you as parents to encourage your student to “perform” as often as possible.  (family gatherings, special moments, etc.) It will help them, and it will also show you what they have learned.  I plan on holding recitals a few times a year, for various Holiday gatherings.  As time gets closer, I will invite your student to participate.

I have a couple of incentive programs to help your student achieve success. During the first lesson, I will present options that are best for your student and modify it accordingly.
If there is anything that I can do to help your student progress musically, please tell me.  I will do everything I can to help your student love music, love the piano and enjoy this experience.  I am very excited to teach them!

Musically Yours,
Miss Angie
